Delaney Hagen’s power to control lightning is unique, even among witches. That uniqueness has caused her to run and hide from her kind – and the other supernatural beings in the world. Finally, after years of running, she feels safe enough to settle down. But her life’s calm is completely destroyed when her best friend is murdered. Delaney teams up with the mysterious and sexy Reid Jamison to figure out just what is going down in her world. Delaney will have to make a choice between her life and love. Will she be the product of a prophecy or will her fate be changed?Reid Jamison knew this case wouldn’t be easy. But, with the money the Coven was throwing at him, how could he say no? When he met Delaney Hagen, his whole world began to unravel. Faced with a prophecy, murders, love and betrayal, will Reid be able to hang on to this new world? Or will it slip away?

“I, my dear, am a shape shifter, as we like to be called, but think of me as a werewolf. And the Coven hired myself and my partner to handle this matter as discreetly as possible.”
He didn’t back away. He just sat there, staring at me. He seemed to be waiting on something, a reaction of some kind. A shape shifter or werewolf. I was officially living in Twilight. Oh my God, this guy looked serious. I laughed in his face. I mean, what else could I do?
“Are you done yet?” he said, looking mighty annoyed.
“Yes, I think so. But really, what are you?” I asked, half snickering.
He leaned even closer and his eyes went green. Those beautiful caramel-colored eyes freakin’ turned green, as in traffic light green. I abruptly stood, knocking the chair over behind me and scrambling over it. My foot caught on the leg of the chair and I went down, but I would not be a victim to this, this thing.
On hands and knees I scrambled over to the pantry door, but before I could stand up I saw him move. He calmly walked over to me, moving the chair out of the way, and offered me a hand. Yeah, right. Was he nuts? I called the lightning to my hand and raised it to him in threat. I was going to barbeque his ass. Brick house or not, his ass was grass. I didn’t stop to even think about the Coven or what they would do if they found out about me.
Between shaking lips I said, “Get the fuck away from me or this ball of lightning is going to turn you into beef jerky!”
He raised an eyebrow at me and flicked his glance at my hand and took two small steps back. He put his hands on his hips and peered down at me.
“Now, Ms. Delaney, the question is, what are you?”

Emily has stopped by here on her book tour, so let’s chat!

Describe your relationship with a good book.

A good book, like a truly, knock your socks off, knock down drag out, great book is like a pillow. You cry into it. You snuggle with it. You share thoughts and worries with it. And when you’re done at night and you are finished with it, it will still be there waiting for the next time.

When did you first start writing and what was the first thing that you wrote that you were proud of?

I wrote a children’s book while I was in middle school. It was for a competition. I didn’t win but I was so proud of it because I had completed it. I had created it from nothing.

Please describe your work ethic as an author.

I work every day to grow. I am never done learning and changing how I do things. I work incredibly hard at growing as an author. I take care of my two little boys but I push through everything to do what I love. As far as work ethic, I write fulltime so I treat it like any other job. It’s a shame my boss is a hard ass!

How do you balance your work as an author with the other aspects of your life?

I am a mommy to two little boys. I care for them 80% of the time as my husband is gone with work quite a bit. For me I take the time when I can! I work when my kids sleep or when we are having a lazy day. But, in the end they do come first. I also don’t stress.

Why did you write this book?

This book started out as fan fiction. But, my husband said, “Why don’t you create your own world?” And, that was it. I loved the idea of creating something from nothing! Witches and werewolves have been done, but the way I have intertwined them seems to breathe new life into them.

What experiences from your past do you find yourself drawing upon repeatedly for inspiration in your work?

I have had a lot of loss I pull from. I lost my mom at an early age and have had some other personal losses. I needed to find a way to heal and have found that though writing.

What do you hope to accomplish in the next five years, both as an author and in your outside life?

I would love to have a number of paranormal series going as well as a few standalone novels. Outside of writing I hope to move to Germany if that’s where the military sends us next! But I also hope to have had another child and completed my crazy family!

Since you are a storyteller, please tell one good lie about yourself.

When I was about six I fell off a horse. I broke my back in two places and had a near body cast for almost a whole year. But, when I landed something I my brain got jostled and from that moment on I could see dead people.
